EMINE BOSTANCI: DAREYN Q.7

Als trio was Dareyn al eens bij De X te horen op De Burcht, maar nu komt de groep terug in een deels nieuwe bezetting. En wat voor een bezetting! De kern van deze groep is nog steeds Emine Bostancı, virtuoos bespeler van de Turkse kemenche (knievedel), tezamen met de befaamde klassieke celliste Maya Fridman. Verder completeren twee grootheden uit de jazz: Franz von Chossy (o.a. Arifa) op piano en Vinsent Planjer (o.a. Rembrandt Frerichs Trio) op percussie het nieuwe kwartet.

Muziek uit het Midden-Oosten is hun immers wel toevertrouwd. Dareyn haalt zijn inspiratie uit de schoonheid van de modale muziek, het dynamische karakter van het strijken en de rijke wereld van de ritmes. Dareyn volgt met name de
oosterse toonladders, wat de muziek een aangename frisheid en "andersheid" geeft. Nu eens melancholisch of verstild, dan weer speels of opzwepend, Dareyn opent nieuwe werelden voor de luisteraar.

Kenmerkend voor de muziek van Dareyn is de lyrische en vaak weemoedige klank van om elkaar heen wervelende melodielijnen uit kemenche en cello die, omlijst door subtiel pianospel en precies slagwerk, Oost en West met elkaar vervlechten. Deze kwartetbezetting opent bovendien nieuwe mogelijkheden qua dynamiek. Nu eens melancholisch of verstild, dan weer speels of opzwepend, Dareyn opent nieuwe werelden voor de luisteraar.

As a trio Dareyn already played at De X, at De Burcht, but now the group returns in a partly new line-up. And what a line-up it is! The core of the group are still Emine Bostanci, a virtuoso on the kemenche, and Maya Fridman, the well-known classical cello player. Dareyn's latest collaboration features two renowned artists: Franz von Chossy (a.o. Arifa) and Vinsent Planjer (a.o. Rembrandt Frerichs Trio). This collaboration adds a more jazzy flavor to Dareyn’s exotic palette. The artists’ passion for creating the unexpected leads to a repertoire filled with euphonic purity and bursts of high adrenaline, through poetic compositions and highly dynamic improvisations Dareyn combines the mystical sound of the kemenche – with its heritage of traditional music originating from Istanbul and the Silk Road – and the deep-rooted sound of the
cello in a contemporary fashion. Their repertoire takes its inspiration from the beauty of modality, the dynamic character of bowing and the rich world of rhythms.
