Mehmet Polat & Embracing Colours

Al jaren geïnspireerd door de rijke muziektradities uit het Midden-Oosten, Afrika, India, Europa en de Balkan, zoekt Mehmet Polat nu meer jazzy invalshoeken voor zijn composities.
Vanzelfsprekend met veel ruimte voor improvisaties, zonder het verfijnde wereldse geluid te verliezen.

Deze Ud-speler en componist is bekend geworden met de groep Arifa. Inmiddels heeft hij een geheel nieuwe groep op poten gezet: Mehmet Polat & Embracing Colours. Het is een bont gezelschap, met de Catalaanse drummer Joan Terol Amigo, de Duitse contrabassist Hendrik Müller en de Nederlandse accordeonist Bart Lelivelt.

Ud player-composer Mehmet Polat brings together outstanding jazz musicians to form a brand new constellation of ud, drums, upright bass and accordion.
After years of international touring with his ensembles inspired by the rich musical traditions of The Middle East, Africa, India, Europe and the Balkans, Polat is seeking out new jazzier ground for his modal jazz forms compositions. As always, Polat likes to leave plenty of room for improvisations in his pieces, resulting in an adventurous sound and a rich audience experience.
